On July 2, 2023, Nalanda Academy hosted its 3rd Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule Education Fair at Dr. Ambedkar College of Social Work, Wardha. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Madhavi Khode Choure (IAS), Additional Divisional Commissioner, Nagpur Division, as the Chief Guest. The fair brought together students, parents, alumni, and mentors in a shared space of learning, guidance, and encouragement. For many students, this was their first direct exposure to structured career guidance and meaningful conversations about higher education.

A Strong Beginning: Voices that Set the Tone
The programme began with a warm welcome by Sapana Jambhulkar, Co-founder of Nalanda Academy, who greeted students, parents, and guests while setting a positive and inclusive tone.
Following this, Anoop Kumar, Director of Nalanda Academy, spoke about the journey of Nalanda since 2013. He stressed the importance of mentorship, role models, and community support, while also introducing key initiatives such as the STEM Counselling Centre and the residential campus project.
The presence of Dr. Madhavi Khode Choure (IAS) added great significance to the programme. Recognised for her work in education and administration, her participation reflected the importance of education in public service and social transformation, inspiring students to pursue excellence with dedication.

At the heart of the fair were one-on-one interactions between students and mentors. These conversations focused on practical concerns such as choosing the right courses, understanding college options, and navigating scholarships and financial aid.
Students were also provided with curated booklets and digital resources explaining entrance examinations and academic pathways in simple, accessible language.

Poorvesh Dongre (PhD Scholar, Virginia Tech, USA) explained STEM education as an approach that connects academic knowledge with real-world problem-solving, and highlighted the global demand for STEM professionals.
Prasanna Gajbhiye (Engineer, USA), drawing from the teachings of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, encouraged students to believe in their abilities and emphasised that education should lead not only to personal success but also to the upliftment of society.
Pradnil Kamble (Researcher, Germany) spoke about his journey in Mechatronics and highlighted emerging and lesser-known STEM fields.
Vikas (Biotechnology Researcher, USA) stressed the importance of curiosity and continuous learning, encouraging students to use education as a tool for both personal growth and community empowerment.
Komal Dhande (Professional, USA) shared her journey as a first-generation learner and motivated students—especially young girls—to pursue STEM careers, highlighting confidence, determination, and breaking social barriers.
Vishakha Wasnik (Biomedical Engineer) spoke about her path into biomedical engineering and the influence of Ambedkarite values in shaping her career.
Amol Rangari (Cybersecurity Expert) introduced students to the growing importance of cybersecurity in today’s digital world.

The Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule Education Fair has steadily expanded over the years, reflecting both need and trust. The first edition in 2018 supported over 700 students with the help of 100+ Nalanda alumni. In 2022, participation crossed 1,000. The 2023 edition marked a major step forward, with nearly 2,000 students and parents attending from multiple states.
This growth highlights the increasing importance of accessible and reliable guidance for students from marginalised backgrounds.

One of the most defining aspects of the fair was the participation of over 200 Nalanda alumni, who came forward to guide students throughout the day. Nearly 2,000 students and parents from Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Gujarat attended the event, creating a vibrant and inclusive environment where students could learn not only from mentors but also from each other.
