Students Speak: Inspiring Journeys from our classroom to the world

At Nalanda Academy, every student carries a story—of struggle, courage, and transformation. While academic achievements are important, what truly defines the Nalanda journey is the deep personal change that students undergo.

To bring these journeys to the forefront, we have started a new video series titled “Students Speak.” This series captures first-hand accounts of students from diverse backgrounds, sharing how Nalanda has shaped their thinking, confidence, and aspirations.

Through this series, we aim to

  • Give students a platform to tell their own stories
  • Highlight the realities of educational inequality
  • Showcase how transformative spaces like Nalanda can make a difference
  • Inspire others from similar backgrounds to pursue higher education

Most importantly, this series reflects Nalanda’s belief that education is not just about courses—it is about becoming a thoughtful, confident, and socially aware human being.

Student Stories

1. Priyanka | Breaking Barriers of Background

Priyanka’s journey reflects the struggles of navigating education with limited resources and exposure. Coming from a modest background, she had to overcome multiple barriers—language, confidence, and access. Through Nalanda, she found mentorship, guidance, and a supportive peer group that helped her move forward with clarity and purpose.

2. Prashik | Finding Knowledge, Dignity, and Direction

Prashik’s journey reflects a deeper transformation—not just academic, but intellectual and personal. At Nalanda, he was exposed to new ideas, critical thinking, and discussions that helped him see the world differently. His story emphasizes how education can reshape one’s worldview and sense of purpose.

3. Disha | When One Girl Studies, A Village Changes

Disha’s story is one of determination and aspiration. Coming from a rural setting, she faced systemic challenges in accessing quality education. Today, she is pursuing her post-graduation at a top university—a journey that reflects her hard work and the support she received at Nalanda.

4. Sukro | From a remote village in Arunachal to higher education

Sukro comes from a remote region where opportunities for quality education were extremely limited. Before joining Nalanda, expressing himself was a major challenge. His story is a powerful reminder that talent exists everywhere—what’s needed is the right environment.

5. Pooja | My schooling was in Marathi medium, but my dreams were bigger

Coming from a Marathi-medium background in rural Maharashtra, Pooja’s journey reflects the challenges many students face when transitioning into higher education. At Nalanda, she discovered that learning goes beyond textbooks. She shares how the environment encouraged her to think independently, understand society, and work towards change.

Beyond Individual Stories

“Students Speak” is more than a video series—it is a documentation of change in motion. Each voice reminds us that when given the right opportunities, students from even the most marginalized backgrounds can rise, lead, and inspire.

These testimonies reflect the larger vision of Nalanda—to create not just successful students, but responsible individuals who can contribute meaningfully to society.
