Incredible Universe of Science : School Students’ Workshop

Nalanda Abhiyan Lab conducted a two-day workshop titled “The Incredible Universe of Science” for school children on 16th and 17th February, 2023 at Nalanda Academy, Wardha. The workshop was led by Dr. Subodh Patil, a distinguished Theoretical Physicist from Leiden University, The Netherlands.

Over the course of two engaging days, students were introduced to complex scientific concepts, including Genetics, Evolution, the Human Mind, and Artificial Intelligence. Dr. Patil skillfully simplified these advanced topics, sparking curiosity and enthusiasm among the young participants.

A total of 40 students from 4 prominent schools in Wardha—New English High School, Dr. Ambedkar School, Ramabai School, and Tukdoji High School—attended the workshop. The sessions were interactive, combining theoretical discussions with practical insights, making science both accessible and exciting for the students.

This workshop also marked the reopening of our Science Lab after the prolonged closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Established in 2018, the Nalanda Labs has been an integral part of Nalanda’s mission to promote scientific inquiry among school children.

Prior to the pandemic, the lab organized several such workshops under the visionary leadership of our dear friend, the late Abhiyan Humane, the founder of Nalanda Lab. His efforts laid the foundation for creating a space where students from marginalized backgrounds could explore and engage with science in meaningful ways.

The success of this workshop reaffirms our commitment to nurturing scientific curiosity and empowering students with the knowledge and tools to understand the world around them.
